Piersland Wedding Photographer | Alan Watson Photography

Looking for a Piersland Wedding Photographer? The Piersland House Hotel in Troon is one of those venues that gives you plenty to work with. From the beautiful gardens and character of the hotel to the relaxed atmosphere throughout the day, there are loads of opportunities for great photographs. But as always, my priority isn’t turning your wedding into an all-day photoshoot — it’s capturing the people, the laughter and everything that makes your day yours, while creating something special when the opportunity presents itself.

Why I Love Being a Piersland Wedding Photographer

The Piersland gives me a brilliant mix of locations without taking you away from your wedding for ages. The gardens are perfect for relaxed portraits and group photographs, while the character of the hotel gives us plenty of options throughout the day. Because I know the venue well, I’m not wandering around looking for ideas while you wait — I already know where I want to take you and, just as importantly, when the light is likely to work best.

Wedding Photography at The Piersland Whatever the Weather

Ayrshire weather doesn’t always read the wedding-day schedule, but that doesn’t mean the photographs have to suffer. If we get sunshine, brilliant — we’ll make the most of the gardens and the beautiful surroundings of The Piersland. If the weather is a little less kind, I’ll work around the conditions and make the most of the shelter, character and atmosphere the venue offers. Some of my favourite photographs have come from days when the weather wasn’t playing nicely, because dramatic skies, soft light and a little creativity can often give us something completely unexpected.

Knowing The Piersland Makes a Difference

Having photographed many weddings at The Piersland, I know the venue, the gardens and where the best photographic opportunities are throughout the day. I’m also well known by the team at The Piersland, and that friendly working relationship really helps everything flow naturally on a wedding day. I know when to grab an opportunity, when to work quickly and, just as importantly, when to leave you alone to enjoy yourselves. That familiarity means less time away from your guests and a much more relaxed experience for everyone.

Natural Moments, Beautiful Portraits and a Bit of Fun

The big photographs are lovely, but they’re only one part of the story. Most of your wedding day happens when you’re not looking at my camera — the nerves in the morning, the reactions during the ceremony, the hugs, the laughter and everything that happens once the party gets going. I’m always watching for those moments. Then, when we do head out for a few portraits, I’ll keep things relaxed, give you enough direction that you never feel awkward and get you back to your guests as quickly as I can.

If you’re getting married at The Piersland House Hotel, I’d love to hear what you’ve got planned. Whether you want mostly relaxed, natural photographs, a few spectacular portraits, or a mixture of both, I’ll make the photography fit around your day rather than your day fitting around the photography. Best Time for Wedding Photographs at The Piersland

One thing I always tell couples is that we don’t have to take every portrait immediately after the ceremony. The light can change enormously throughout a wedding day, and at The Piersland we’ve got the gardens to work with as well as the beach only a few minutes’ walk away. I’ll keep an eye on the sky and the light while you enjoy your day, and if the conditions look right, I might steal you away for ten minutes to create something special. Then it’s straight back to your guests and the celebrations.
